[/b](Subtitle)Wherever it is, they are there! On June 15th, surrounded by an impressive staff, the Tokio Hotel landed in Paris with their missile: Schrei, an already essential single in Germany and that can well to become the hymn of the return. We met for you Bill, Tom, Gustav, and Georg.
~ First of all, how was your stay in Paris?
Bill: “We are really very happy to be here. At the moment, we have not had lots of time to discover the city, but we intend on fixing that. This morning, we went to do some photos at the Trocadéro, and it was magical to discover it just opposite the Eiffel Tower. Although we are here especially to work, we try to open our eyes in order to not lose a bit of the magnificent spectacle that Paris offers. And then, if we do not have the time to be like tourists, we will return!”
~ France is a country where you are not as well known as Germany. Is it peaceful for you to walk around quietly on the street without being assaulted by the fans?
Tom: “It is clear that this is the kind of thing that is impossible in Germany! We have no complaints. During many years, we worked like crazy to change music and do our own thing. Today, we attained our goal, and, believe me, there is nothing in the world that would make us go back. We are four very ambitious ones, and that brings us here today, to continue composing pieces and play them in front of thousands of people.”
~ Have you been recognized anyway by French fans?
Bill: “When we arrived in front of the French CD store, a group of a good twenty fans awaited us in the front door. I do not know how they kenw we were in Paris that day, but that pleased us to know that we were not totally unknown in France. Also, this morning, when we did photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, it was funny to see that not many people were intrigued. People did not know us, but the fact that we had a photographer was enough to awaken the curiosity of the people. Certain people approached apprehensively and asked, “Excuse us for disturbing you, but who are you?”. And when one replied Tokio Hotel, necessarily, that did not affect them but they were content with that answer anyway ... If, one day, we become celebrated in France, maybe those people will remember us...”
~ Since this is your first visit on French ground, it is necessary for you to explain where you dreamed up the name Tokio Hotel ...
Gustav: “Indeed, this rather simple one; "Tokio" is because we all grew in big cities and that, consequently, we consider ourselves as an urban group. We could have chosen the name of a German city, but we have a fascination of sorts for Tokio. And then, also, it is necessary to acknowledge as that sounds better... With regards to "Hotel", this is all simply because we spend our time to sleep to the hotel. We are very often on the roads to give the concerts to the four corners of Germany, and it becomes more and more rare than we slept in proper beds. Here, you know all...”
~ In Germany your success was quick as lightning. How can you explain that so many teenagers indentifies with your lyrics?
Bill: "It's simple because our songs tell about them, their everyday lives which are our lives as well. All teenagers have more or less same problems and in our lyrics, we talk about our experiences, things we have gone through but also about revolt that rises in us. We sometimes feel like being out of society and that's why one day we wanted to write such a song as "Schrei" which is a real call for revolt and acceptation of oneself."
~ Will we soon have the chance to see you on the French scene?
Tom: “No date is foreseen for the moment, but we hope to come to play here. We do not know again how our music will be welcomed and received, but it is clear that if France wants us, then we'll be here.”
~ Could you have done another trade instead of a musician?
Bill: In regards to me, I do not believe. And then, with my look, in any case, that would not have been easy! You imagine yourself a guy with me behind the window of a bank? *Laugh* No employer who is not crazy would hire me. Unless he wants me to disrupt the flow of his business ...
Georg: Me, I would have done well being king, but I believe that this already is too late! *laugh*
