Where can we find you this summer?
Bill: ‘We’re going to do all sorts of festivals in Germany so a lot of performances. And we’re going to write lots of songs and go into the studio, because we want to bring out our second album in Germany. So it’s going to be a lot of working and it is possible that we go foreign countries. We’re now in Amsterdam but before we went to London and there might be a possibility that we go to Spain. France and the Czech Republic.’
Tom: ‘That not all very clear yet, but it won’t be a lot of hanging around.’

What if you didn’t have to work, where would you want to go?
Georg: ‘I would go for a deep blue see with a white beach (white sand) and palm trees.’
Bill: ‘Or a small Island.’
Tom: ‘What would you think of a temperature of 30 degrees, a nice Island with 3 palm trees, some sun, a pretty beach and blue water? Man, I wish I could really go there.’

Do you actually time left to go on a holiday this year?
Bill: ‘Of course! Our schedule is divided in blocks. A couple weeks of work and then a week off so we can do something fun. But most of the time we stay home during that week.’

When did you last went on a holiday?
Bill: ‘The last time we all went to Spain, but you couldn’t really call it a holiday. Of course we lay down in the sun, but meanwhile there was also some work to do and we wrote new songs. Some sort of creative holiday.’

To what holiday do you have the worst memories?
Tom: ‘Camping! We once did that and we all thought it was horrible.’
Georg: ‘Except that you got you tongue ring, Bill.’
Bill: ‘O yeah, that might be the only positive thing.’
Tom: ‘But those stupid tents, bah.’

What do you like most in the summer?
Georg: ‘Laying in the sun.’
Tom: ‘Lying on the beach and look at girls in short skirts. Or actually try to look under the short skirts.’

What can’t you life without when you go on holiday?
Tom: ‘I always got a sweatpants and a swimming pants with me. Other than that I have to have my mp3-player and I can’t do without sun lotion. It doesn’t look nice if you look bright red being on stage.’
Gustav: ‘And money maybe? That would be nice.’

What would you do if you’re holiday would be ruined by rain?
Georg: ‘Well, you always have that in Germany. So we’re kind of used to it, so we won’t make special plans.’
Tom: ‘To us the rain doesn’t matter. You know who I feel sorry for? Our fans! Before concerts we’re inside, but they often stand in the pouring rain waiting the get into the concert hall.’

Ok choose: beach or swimming pool?
Tom: ‘Beach.’
Bill: ‘But only a nice beach right? A dirty beach isn’t really my thing.’
Georg: ‘We go indeed to a white beach.’ (white sand)
Bill: ‘A swimming pool is boring. I already seen it all after 2 minutes, while on the beach you never know what might happen.’

Winter or summer?
Tom: ‘Summer! I love the sun. If it was up to me it would be summer all day, I don’t think snow is really necessary.’ (I think that Tom meant all year or the Hitkrant made a mistake)

Hotel or camping?
Georg: ‘Hotel, we don’t have good memories with camping.’

Holiday with Tokio Hotel or with you’re family?
Bill: ‘We’re fine going on a holiday together. In Spain the last time we had a great time so why not? That time before was also with the band and before that was with our parents. And this year we won’t go on a holiday anymore, it’s a pity but there’s nothing we can do about it.’

377 days ago they released their first single 'Durch den Monsun.' In the mean time are Bill (16), Tom (16), Gustav (17) and Georg (19) the most succesfull German popband and since friday there is their fourth single already ("Der letzte Tag". BILD has meeted the hit-quartet on Sylt on an exclusive photoshooting - and at the talk in the dunes the four were loosened like sand fleas.

Tom: We have sand everywhere on our bodies - till the littlest cracks.

But then is a life on a lonely South Sea-island made for you..
Georg: I can imagine me a life in a Robinson-cottage.
Tom: Without electricity and something?
Georg: Hmm, right. I need a television.

Who or what would you bring to a lonely island?
Georg: Do twins count as one?
Tom: When I have the choose between a person or something material, would I rather bring a person with me - that's more maintaining then a television!
Bill: Of course, I would bring my brother!
Tom: Of course, I would do that too!

Would you bring eachother as a band?
Gustav: If I knew, that I was coming back, then rather not.

When you're stranded there with the four of you, who takes which job on the island?
Georg: Of course Gustav must take care of the fire, I would..
Tom (interrups): And I would..

Stop! Why should Gustav make a fire?
Gustav: Because basically, I'm the only one, who can everything!
Georg: Gustav has also always his pocketknife with him.
Tom: Gustav is a little Robinson Crusoe, he is good with his hands.
Gustav: That's right exceptionally!
Tom: .. and the only outdoor-person in the band. We, the others, have nothing special with the nature.
Gustav: Tom was responsible for the lighthouse.
Tom: I don't need a lighthouse - I am the replacement for the sun.
Gustav: Tom is just standing there - and we are turning brown!
Bill: I am usefull for nothing, I am not talented to do something with my hands at all.
Gustav: Bill can cut the flowers a bit.

On an island there's no McDonalds..
Bill: Maybe I would cook.
Gustav: You and cooking? Oh, God!
Georg: In any case, Gustav and I would build a raft with sails..
Gustav: .. as something flooting.
Georg: Gustav would be the hunter and the three of us the collectors. We would make a plan, Gustav would do it.

And as an experienced climber Gustav could also be a scout!
Gustav: Actually a good idea, but because of my myopia I can't see very far. So I also have to bring my glasses to the island.


Bill: I'd like to be served by the others, it's already like this in day-to-day-life - the others always carry my suitcases.

Are you a little Diva, Bill? [looooooool to this question Laughing Laughing ]
Georg: : Well, I wouldn't call it Diva, the word egoistic fits better!
Bill: Yes, I'm very egoitstic - it has been like that the last 6 years. The others always had to put their instrument-stuff together on their own on stage. I for myself, don't even have any idea about putting these cables and stuff togehter.
Georg: You only run around with your little mikrophone-bag....
Bill: I never helped them, I've always been to lazy. I'm quite happy, that my vocal cords are always with me, so that I don't have to bring any other stuff.

While the others built up the stage, you cared for your nails and Make up ...
Bill : No, I've always been ready before, i use to sit around and drink something.
And you others never got upset because of that?
(confused talking of everybody else)
Gustav: If Bill would have ever touched my drums, I would have run crazy.
Bill: Yes, that's always been nice with Gustav. The others always were quite upset [that Bill didn't help them]
Georg: Bill has the easiest job anyway!
Bill: This is so not true! You don't have to do anything on stage.
Georg: Yeees Bill, for sure, that's it...

In September three birthdays are on your schedule: Bill and Tom will be 17- Gustav 18. How do you want to celebrate that?
Bill: Tom and I keep our birthday free [from dates and stuff]
Tom: But 17 is nothing special anyway, 16 that's cool, 18 too.
Bill: 17 ist nichts Halbes und nichts Ganzes [german expression to say, that something is no round sum]
Tom: Nothing new happens - but with 16 you get your ID-card, with 18 you're allowed to drive.

But newly you can do your driver's licence with 17!
Tom: Yes- but you are only allowed to drive with your parents as front-seat passengers then!
Georg: And you can only do it in some german states - in Sachen-Anhalt it's prohibited for example!
Bill: Tom and I wnat to start driver's lessons in the nearer future - so that we can start driving exactly at our 18th birthday!
Tom: But please don't give me any cool super-car. So that I won't feel that ashamed if I drive against a tree.

And how do you plan to celebrate your "age of consent", Gustav?
Gustav: Although I start driver's lessons in the nearer future, I think that the "age of 18" is overestimated. I mean, in my opinion you just get one year older...

Your questions for TH are poring in. We asked the boys and they answered honestly.

On photo's you always look so serious. Are you really like that? [Lilly 16]
tom: Naah... but we are having a hard time to smile on commando. If they ask us: "smile for a change", we aren't. but when we are having fun, we do. And sometimes that happens on photoshoots. You see us on photo's like we feel at that moment.

On the internet I read that Bill wants to shave his hair. Is that true? [Bea 17]
bill: Oh no! One day I will change my look, but when and how, I have no clue yet. Although I'm pretty sure I will never shave myself bold.

How popular are you guys with the girls? [Maarten 15]
georg: there are 250.000 ppl in total who went to see our  concerts and that were mostly girls. So we are pretty popular (laughs)


I read a couple of weeks ago that you guys wouldn't dislike onenightstands [vicky 16]
Bill: I'm not. I prefer sex in a serious relationship. But if I should have one, I would make it clear from the beginning that it's just for 1 night.
tom: You are kidding! And what do you do then? Letting the girl sign a contract or something like that? It is quite obvious it is just for one night, so you shouldn't say it, should you?
gustav: If you don't ask her number, it is pretty clear. She should know then... but onenightstands aren't my cup of tea.
Tom: I find onenightstands really emotional, you feel attracted to eachother and don't need words for it.

When do you know it's over with your girlfriend [ eva 14]
bill: you can sense that. There is no explanation for that. I'm really horrible with breaking up. I hate to tell a girl that I don't feel anything for her anymore. Especially in her face
georg: but you have to tell it personally. You just don't dump someone by sms!
bill: I know, but I've did it before. I regret it now. The most important thing is that you're always honest, even at that hard moment.

The vacation started, but do you actually still go to school? [karen 14]
Bill: we all had a year off last year. Not that we didn't do anything. We tried to keep track by self study, but we were spared exams and homework. That will be completely different next schoolyear. I want to do my final exams then.
Georg: We have the luck that you are more or less able to chose when you write your finals. Tom and Bill will do them next year.
Gustav: I'm the only one who still has to go to school for 2 years.

are you the kind of typical guys, loving to watch football? [amber 15]
Tom: O no, completely not. There are 1001 things I find more interesting than football or any other sport
georg: I will watch a match from the German team on the WK, but I would never stay home for it.

do you do a lot of sports? [koen 17]
Bill: I don't watch sports and don't practice it either. Instead of going to the fitness center, I rather stay in bed longer.
georg: I go running on regular base and if we are staying in a hotel with a fitness space, I train over there a bit.
tom: : you will never find me there

You are really famous these times... does that mean that you don't have to help at home anymore? [ julie 14]
georg: I could only wish. I still have to clean up my own room, but I don't mind. If my mother would do that, I would lose a lot if stuff.
bill: I also clean up my room my own. I cna do that better than any one else could. At least I know where everything is then.

If you know who these vampiric androgynes (and Gustav) are, anything I have to say about them now will be accompanied by the sound of much tutting and stroppy voices going “GOD! EVERYONE knows that!”. For everyone else, this is Tokio Hotel. They are German, they are ROCK, and they are doing very nicely indeed thank you very much. Their massively successful album ‘Scream’ has seen them conquer Europe in a manner which I absolutely refuse to compare in any way to any World Wars of the past 100 years or so. And they’re just a bunch of nippers!

And now they’ve set their sights on Blighty. They’re releasing their first UK single ‘Ready Set Go’ over here on August 20th, and even though their English isn’t brilliant, we still decided that the best introduction ChartBlog readers could have to their work would be in the form of our patented Email Questionnaire.
Which, now I come to think about it, is a bit cruel, really. Oh well…

QUESTION 1: Where are you (as this is email, feel free to lie if you are somewhere dull)?
Tom: We are in Hamburg today (24th. of July).


QUESTION 2: What are you doing (see question 1)?
Bill: We’re at a photo shoot for ID-Magazine.
QUESTION 3: Tell us all about your new product?
Bill: It’s our first English album. It’s a mixture of songs from our first and second German albums and the songs have been translated into English. Recording it was a very special experience especially for me. While the others had time off (all of them moaning), cause we didn’t need to record the music again, I had to go into the studio and record the songs in English. I’m a perfectionist and I wanted the songs to sound like a native speaker would sing them and not like some German trying to sing in English. It took me some time but I’m really happy with the results. I’m very proud that we did the English album.
Tom: There’s one special thing about the UK-Version, we added two extra songs - “Live Every Second” and “Raise Your Hands”.
QUESTION 4: Are you looking forward to a future where computers can just read your brainwaves rather than expecting you to use a keypad?
Bill: That would make life easy, wouldn’t it?!
QUESTION 5: What would you like to be wearing right now?
Tom: What I’m wearing right now.
All: Exactly.
QUESTION 6: And what are you actually wearing?
Georg: I’m wearing black jeans and a black T-Shirt with a skull.
Tom: I’m wearing blue jeans, a blue XXL-T-Shirt and a blue cap.
Gustav: Light blue jeans, red T-Shirt with black sculls all over the front and a black cap.
Bill: A Red T-Shirt with David Bowie on the top, a dark blue jeans, red and black cowboy boots, leather-glam-belt with a scull, a white leather jacket.
QUESTION 7: Why do you think Donald Duck wears a tunic but no trousers?
Tom: Maybe it’s because of his on-and-off-relationship with Daisy. Maybe he is tired of being treated badly by Daisy. But because he can’t help it, the guy might just want to check on his chances with other ladies - or he just likes to show off.
QUESTION 8: What musical training do you have? Do you play any interesting instruments?
Gustav: I started to play drums when I was really little - about 5 years old. I used to act like I am playing drums everywhere - at the table, under the table, on the sofa - so my parents send me off to get proper lessons right away.
Bill: I never had any singing lessons.
Tom: My step-dad showed me some chords on the guitar - from that moment on I learned everything by practice. In my case it worked out - but when Georg is playing the bass, it still sounds like he never had any lessons at all.
Georg: Very funny. I started to play the bass when I was about 11 or 12 and had lessons at music school.
QUESTION 9: If you and your most musical mates all had your instruments in front of you right now, but were instructed to play a song, any song, right now without conferring, what would it be?
Gustav: ‘Break away’.
Tom: ‘Raise Your Hand’.
QUESTION 10: Now be honest, did you cheat on question 9?
Bill: No, these two songs are our most favorite live-songs.
QUESTION 11: What was the last thing you posted on your own message board?
Gustav: Don’t forget the conference call.
Bill: Call management!
Georg: Buy eggs.
Tom: The last written thing Georg wrote, which I read: And there was the problem - the girl was the girlfriend of our guitar player.
Georg: Ohhhhh!

So there we have it. And to think there was concern that the snarky English humour wouldn’t translate well!
Having said that, I would hate to be a fly on the wall of their rehearsal room when they count in to a song, and Gustav and Tom launch into a different number each. Unless it was a deaf fly.

Have you ever been in Finland before?
What kind of image do you have about the country and the Finnish girls?
Tom: unfortunately we have never been to Finland before, but we are really looking forwards to get in there.
Bill: It’s always nice to get in some new country the first time, and get to know some Finnish girls and fans and also play live to them.

How do you deal with all the gossip about you?
Tom: It depends about the situation. We’ve had to get used to them, so it’s everyday thing to us. Maybe even 85% about all the things what are in the magazines are not truth. But generally speaking usually they are nothing bad about us so it’s ok. Furthermore I like to gossip other peoples too. (laughs)

Are you still nervous to go on stage?
Bill: Yes. We are all really nervous before concert – we are the most stage frightened band in the world. We probably never get rid of it. I shake, and can’t breath when I go on stage. I also think all the horrible things through. It of course isn’t bad thing, but I hope, that we’ll learn some day, how to be not that nervous, that I’ll won’t have a heart attack.

Has the success changed your personalities?
Gustav: We haven’t really changed in seven years, because we always pull each others down from stratospheres, if the success has started to get in our heads.

Do people usually lie to you that they don’t know you, that they’d get to talk to you?
Tom: Indeed. Usually people came and say: “Oh, I didn’t know it was you, I just wanted to get to know you.” Off course I always right away understand that it’s a lie, but I don’t let it bother the situation.

Bill, you are more in the spotlight than the others, does that make any bitternes or argue between you?
Bill: There are never any bitterness. I’m the singer, so it’s normal, that I’m the most on the spotlight. It’s like that in most of the bands, and in our band it have been like that for seven years already. I even believe that it’s ok, for the others, because it’s off course a lot more stressful to be always on spotlight. And as example, usually people recognize me the easiest in the streets. I’m sure, that all of us are satisfied wit their roles in the band, because they are equal in the band.

… about family and friends

As a famous, can you make new friendships, or is there always a risk to get used?
Georg: Real friendships are really difficult to make in these days. At least it would take really long time, before we’d really could trust to that person.
Bill: It’s difficult even to answer in this question, because we really don’t even get to know new people entirely.

Who’s the most important person in your life Tom?
Tom: I have two most important persons: my mother and brother.

How your parents react for that fact that you are famous?
Bill: Really well. They have always supported us and I’m happy, that I have so good terms with them. Especially our mother has always given us free hands to do what ever we’ve wanted to. We could start to play music in very young age and we could dress like we wanted to. So we made our dreams truth like we wanted, and we didn’t need to hide anything from our parents. They are really happy for our success and they support us, which is very important, because we’re on to go every day. We trust each others completely.

Have you ever been in love, Bill?
- I’ve been in love many times, but unfortunately I haven’t yet found the love of my life.

Are you in relationship or singles?
-We all are singles.

Could you ever imagine to fall in love with a Finnish fan?
Off course I could. It’s what ever for me, where my dream girl comes from. And it would even be really good it she is a fan, because mates should have same interests -so then we’d have already same taste of music, and that would be already a very good start.

…weekdays and morals

How do you spend your free time?
Gustav: if we are on tour and we have a day off, we relax. At first we sleep long, about to 5 or 6pm, and then we usually watch tv.

Bill, what read in the last text message you received, and from who it was?
“You will be picked up at 11.30” it came from our tour manager.

Georg, what would you change in your self?
Georg: Nothing, I even couldn’t get any more muscles(laughs).
Bill: I’d at least put Georg to diet, I’d cut his nose smaller and tie his ears closer to his head. Then he’d bee already a lot better (laughs).

Bill, when did you cry last time, and why?
-In the near past I haven’t been sad, so I think, last time was in the tour. We were so happy, so I cried for a joy.

Tom, what have been the worst think you have done to another person?
I don’t know, I’m so absurd nice person (laughs). Oh well, sometimes if Bill brag himself too much I slap him, but he have already get used to it in seventeen years.

What you wouldn’t ever forgive, Gustav?
If I’d have a girlfriend, and she’d cheat on me.

Would you say something to your Finnish fans?
All: Thank you very much for your support and messages. We’ll be soon in Finland and I hope that we can spend a lot of time with you.

How much did you lied during this interview?
Tom: Not at all. We’d more pleasant left for answering in a question than that we’d need to lie.
Bill: Except Georg off course lied on that, that he’d not liked to change anything in him.
Georg: Yeah right, Bill.

What the word „love“ means to you?
Bill: For me it means the most beautiful way to show the people how much you care about her. In my life love takes an important part of personal life and music. I think that love is the most important thing in life.

Tom: Bill said it so beautifully (laughs), but I don’t agree with him. Love, from my vision point , this is word what means same like passion and so on. I think that there is no true love. All those long relationships are just manners from one person to another. You know, I have never felt true love.

Bill: Yes you have, you just don’t want to say it ou loud(everyone laughs except Tom)

Tom: Let me finish. I have never said to a girl that I love her, because I haven’t felt that way. Well, she didn’t felt too and if didn’t disposed me.I have had girls who just wanted to have fun and there weren’t missunderstandings between us.

Tom: I don’t wan’t to repeat this talk. I have nothing good to say about her. She wanted to „spoil“ the band and me. But she couldn’t do that, so...forget it.


How old you were, when you did it first time?(sex)

Tom: I was 13 (laughs), but I don’t want to talk about details...I think I have already said enough about that.
Georg: I have had my first time, but not as young as Tom’s, but yeah, I was 17 and I started the thing.


But you, Bill?


Bill: What me? (laughs)


Have you had sex?


Bill: Maybe, maybe not. (laugh)

What that suppose to mean?


Bill: It means that maybe I have and maybe I haven’t.

What is your biggest dissapointment in sex, life, girls and etc?

Tom: I have them a lot, but here’s the one: When I was at school, before our music carreer started. I had a girl with who I got along very well. And there were rumors that I had say that my girlfriend is a very good lover...but I didn’t, REALLY. Once I stood in a playground with my friends, and I saw her walk to me...(laughs) and she slapped me

Bill: It wasn’t just a slap, it was a very, very big slap.
Tom: Yeah Bill was also there then, and actually it wasn’t...just a slap, she had very big hands and my face was red all over after that.

Bill: And whole school laughed.
Tom: Yeah..even you laughed. My own brother...twin.

Bill: You should have seen it! The girl’s face was red all over!She was kind of angry. Horrible!

Tom: I was awful. Okey, listen this...

Bill: Before you begin I’d like to say, that don’t be surprised in Tom...he has many stories like this. Tom: I was 15. I had a girlfriend.

Bill: Girlfriend? You mean that girl who wanted sex!
Tom: Hahaahaa...it wasn’t funny (laughs): Me and girl, who I often visited, we were together in my place and then in her place.When we were in her place, we knew, that nobody can disturb us there and we could do whatever we want. Right? Once we were in her place and we wanted to do *it*.
I thought we were just talking, when she started to kiss me and so on. I told her that if I start, I can’t stop...and so it happened...we had sex...and after that(laughs) stood on the doorway...(laughs)

Bill: Stop laughing and continue
Gustav: Yeah, why are you laughing (laughs too)

Tom: Her parents stood on the doorway! I don’t know, how I survived after that. I had to dress up quickly. I said goodbye to girl and left!


Bill: But that’s not all. Week later, Tom and I went to supermarket to bought something for our trip. We went to our dad. And there were some people before us, and we watched condoms. Actually, we were thinking, how can anyone buy them by taste and colour. Then Tom took a packet and said to seller: „I’ll take these too“, but of course, he was just kidding(twins laugh)
when the father of that girl ( he stood behind us),with who Tom had sex,said,that her daughter likes strawberries and gave Tom a packet of red condoms.
(laughs). I couldn’t stop laughing! Tom turned around and said to me::“Bill, I wait you outside.!“.
But that all didn’t ended there. That man said to me that he will pay for condoms and asked of me, what colour and with what taste condoms Tom like.. I laughed and handed him a packet of watermelon taste condoms.I payed and came out of the market...we laughed 5 minutes with Tom...
And when we were going home, that man came and stopped us and handed Tom a packet and said: „Look I’m too young to be a grandfather, this is for you and my daughter, be careful.“
Tom stood there a couple of minutes and said then: „Look, I may be young, but I’m not stupid. I have thousands of condoms in home and the last thing I need from you are your condoms.
And If you care so much, then take this: we broke up with your daughter. So, don’t worry, but somebody else can make her pregnant. But don’ worry. I thing that me and my new girlfriend like those condoms...(laughs)…

Bill: Tom turned and left, I apologized to this man and run after Tom.
Tom: When I mentioned that new girl, I didn’t had anyone yet. I just need to get rid of this man...But it’s true, I dumped his daughter.
Bill: It’s true. First you dumped her and then she stopped me on the street, she cried, called me and talked about your sex. Thanks, Tom, so coldblooded.


Tom: I stayed myself!
Georg: You don’t know, how is to live if you have a heavy stone on your heart!!
Gustav: Georg, even you are not better than him! (laughs)

Interview with Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg
They are wild. They are real rebels. But behind this fassade are happy and smart boys. Bill&Co are talking about love, sex, tattoos and strings.


What is in you so Japanese that you changed your name to Tokio Hotel?
Georg: Nothing! The name came by accident. We were Devilish before, but well, it was quite boring and we were looking for something else. We were looking for something that really fits to us.
Gustav: Tokyo is crazy just like us. We have always wanted to go there. And in tours we have to see enough hotels. It fits perfectly.

Tom and Bill are very extraordinary names for boys from Loitsche,Magdeburg...
Tom: Yeah, those are genial. Our mum thought that if she will have two children, she will give them short names. My right name really is Tom, not Thomas!

Bill, your make-up is sometimes really *crazy* How did it begin?
Bill: It began when I dressed to a vampire in a carnaval. There I licked blood and everyday make-up was very usual for me.

And how did people react?
Bill: Everybody looked us with stupid faces in our town, but we didn’t care because we have always been different. And my classmates reacted different. Girls thought that it’s cool but there always came stupid comments from boys (a la *drag queen* and so on.)
Tom: Many guys think that boys sholdn’t wear make-up and take care about themselves. It’s totally stupid!

And how did you, Bill, react?
Bill: At the beginning it hurted me but I don’t care anymore. Tom and me have always mind our own business and we have never cared about what other people are talking about us.
Tom: (smiles) Yeah! And when someone want’s to mess with my little brother he has to mess with me first!

And how are the things in love? Do you often like same girls??
Tom: Yeah. We often like similar girls, but we don’t have a type what we prefer.
If we’ll see that girl, we both think that she is cute.
Bill: That’s why we need pair of twins! Olsen twins are both very cute. But who takes who...?
Gustav: (laughs)It doesn’t matter! You can always change them if you want.

What your mum said about tattoo on your neck?
Bill: I let my mothers friend made that and I lied that mother was agreed. And then I did it. It was awfully painful and I got nagged in home after that, but I still want at least one more tattoo!

Gustav and Georg, you don’t have any piercings or tattoos, we see it at first look...
Georg: Yeah. I’m not that guy who looks like a rebel. I like to relax and take it easy. I’ll never want to have a tattoo! Gustav: Me neither!But if I’ll have to do tattoo one day, I plan it on my back,near my shoulders. I’ll better stay on the background and let the others turn the show on.

Do you have a girlfriend at the moment?
Tom:No, but I like to flirt with girls and kiss them. But I don’t have enough time for that relationship.
Georg: I feel I’m too young to tie myself with someone special
Bill: And honestly: We dream about great love and we all feel very lonely now. By the way, I would really like to have a girlfriend.

What you don’t like in girls?
Gustav: Big underpants: Big big no no! If girls wear something like that, it it gives me the shivers on my back. Better strings or another sexy underwear. Bah, or nothing at all!
Bill: I hate when girls bite their fingernails. Disgusting!
Georg: Girls who always think that they are right make me nervous. And it’s really annoying when they doesn’t leave my space for me!

Do you like kissing?
Bill: Of course!! Tom and I got our first kiss from same girl. We were 10 years old and she was 13.
Tom: Yeah, it was in summer when we were tenting in the garden. First she kissed me and then she caught Bill. That was totally crazy.
Georg: I started kissing early. In kindergarden I kissed with all girls...


Have you had your first time?
Gustav: Yeah, but it wasn’t anything special. Unfortunatley, with this girl we were couple only two weeks.
Tom: It happened with my first girlfriend. We were couple almost two years. I found out that it was very beautiful and we counted each other completely.
We both knew, what other likes and what knot.
Bill: It’s not anyone else’s business, have I had sex or not. I can only tell you: I had very long relationship with one girl and we didn’t play Mikado. (??????)

And have you had then...?
Bill: I’m not telling you. Let it be my little secret.

INTERVIEW - Tokio Hotel
The biggest band that England's never heard of talk to Sound Generator about their meteoric rise.

Matthew Sheret feels decidedly old as he sits down with Tom, Bill, George and Gustav in the plus surroundings of Chelsea Harbour to talk about their multi-platinum career, all by the age of 18.

Your guys are...really young! Tell us a bit about how you got to this point?
Bill: Tom and I have been doing music for a really really long time. We started out at about 7 writing our own songs and stuff. It really went very fast, going to our own stages and playing parties, private parties and weddings, little city parties and stuff like like that. We met the other two about seven years ago in the main club that we always used to play, and they knew each other from music school. When we got together we needed a bass played and a drummer and it all worked out really good. We got along really well, had the same vision and then we took off.

Was it tough adjusting to all this attention?
Tom: Sure, that was a deep cut into this world, and a big experience. You have to imagine that our first single went from nowhere straight to number one in the German charts. As soon as we came out with 'Durch den Monsun' everything changed for us. All of a sudden we were on big stages and we actually didn't know a lot or have a lot of experience. We had to get used to a lot of situations and a lot of stuff. We had bad experiences and good experiences and we really needed time to grow into it. We will never get used to paparazzi and stuff like that, that's something we will never adjust to. At the moment we enjoy everything about it. We're traveling the world. We just came back from our first European tour, which was really our highlight both career wise and as musicians, it was the biggest thing for us ever. We're not getting used to it anymore, we're living it finally and we're enjoying every second.

This album, Scream, was your first recorded in English. Was that tough?
Bill: I suppose I have to answer this as the others didn't have any problem with an English album, haha. Honestly it was a big challenge for me, and for the guys as well, it was emotionally a big step doing an album in English because we a lways did music in German, I always wrote lyrics in German, I always sang in German, so it was a big big step for me and a weird feeling to go over to singing in English. We made the decision because lyrics are really important for us and we really wanted people to get what we were singing everywhere because you can't expect in every country for your fans to sit down and translate your lyrics. I'm a big perfectionist, so it took me some time in the studio because I really wanted to soun d good. I didn't want to sound like some German who's trying to sing English, I wanted to sound native. I'm really really proud of it, we're all really proud of it. It's a mixture of the first and second German albums
Tom: It's like writing a new song. It's tough to get that one-to-one translations of the songs and you have to work really hard on them.

So what's coming next for you?
Bill: Well it's touring, touring, touring. We're going to a lot of countries that we haven't been to yet and doing promotion over there, but at the moment our main spot is really the UK, because we're releasing 'Ready, Set, Go' on the 27th August and this is a really really big step for a German band to set up here, so that's what we're concentrating on.
Tom: The second big thing for us is that the European tour is being continued, we've got extra bookings from countries we haven't been to yet like Holland, France and Russia. That all starts in October.

What are you guys listening to at the moment then?
Tom: Well, I'm listening to German hip-hop all the time, which is very far away from our style, and when I listen to bands I listen to ours, hahaha.
Gustav: I listen more to the harder stuff: Metalica, System of a Down and that sort of stuff.
Bill: A little bit of everything. I really like Placebo and Coldplay, depending on whatever mood I'm in
Georg: I'm listening to Sum 41's Underclass Hero a lot.
